چکیده

Since the high market value of seabass, Lates calcarifer (Bloch, 1970), mainly found in Bangladesh's coastal waters and tidal rivers Bangladesh, farmers those areas cultivate it alongside carp fish ponds shrimp farms. Even though farming began many years ago, progress overcoming obstacles only natural sources for hatchlings, supplemental feeding, knowledge on advanced management seabass at field level has been prolonged. This study discusses current trading districts. Seabass fry is collected from estuarine areas, grown hatcheries or ponds, sold to large sizes. Some this mixed culture extensive method; some them with a semi-intensive method. feeds live feed (Tilapia fishes fry); continuous supply difficult expensive. In these cultivated traditional method 18–20 months, weighing 7-8 kg, 1 year, 2-3 kg. The profit percentage 77.42%. To expand profitable farming, crucial acclimate induced breeding food. institutions involved should not work isolation but rather collaborate developing techniques expanding farming. case, prosperous countries' experience can be applied. Evaluation of potential Asian seabass (Lates calcarifer) culture in ponds of Choebde, Abadan

Asian seabass (Lates calcarifer) is a potential candidate species for rearing in pond system in Iran because of its fast growth rate, ability to adapt to varying environmental conditions and its demand in domestic as well as export markets. Hence, growth parameters, survival and body composition of Asian seabass (20.70±0.36 g) was investigated. Experiment was conducted in three ponds In Choebde...

Length-Weight Relationship of Asian Seabass (Lates calcarifer Bloch, 1790) from Pichavaram Mangrove Wa- ters, South East Coast of India

The length-weight relationship of Asian seabass (Lates calcarifer Bloch, Centropomidae) was estimated for the first time based on a wild population; specimens were collected from Pichavaram mangrove waters during October 2003 to September 2004. A highly significant correlation between length and weight, as a relative condition changing in the course of the year, were particularly observed. Thes...

Characterization of the Functional Domain of β2-Microglobulin from the Asian Seabass, Lates calcarifer

BACKGROUND β2-Microglobulin (β(2)M) is the light chain of major histocompatibility class I (MHC I) that binds non-covalently with the α heavy chain. Both proteins attach to the antigen peptide, presenting a complex to the T cell to be destroyed via the immune mechanism. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS In this study, a cDNA sequence encoding β(2)M in the Asian seabass (Lates calcarifer) was ide...

Identification and Characterization of 63 MicroRNAs in the Asian Seabass Lates calcarifer

BACKGROUND MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play an important role in the regulation of many fundamental biological processes. So far miRNAs have been only identified in a few fish species, although there are over 30,000 fish species living under different environmental conditions on the earth. Here, we described an approach to identify conserved miRNAs and characterized their expression patterns in differen...
